Social Committee:
SARA has now been without a Social Sub-Committee for almost two years. Throughout the long history of the Association the Social Sub-Committee has organised many varied events such as coach outings, children’s Christmas parties and the social and quiz nights. More recently, two very successful Social and Quiz Nights - one in July 2006 and the other in January 2007 - were both oversubscribed and jointly raised more than £500 for two worthy local charities, as reported in ‘The Resident’.
The General Committee would very much like to re-appoint a Social Sub-Committee to oversee new and exciting social activities – not necessarily just Quiz Nights – but we need members to help us achieve this. As with any committee, it will require a chairman, secretary and treasurer.
If you would like to play a part in organising our future social activities and are willing to offer your time and assistance by taking on one of the three offices required – or even if you just want to be an active helper by being a member of the Social Sub-Committee – please contact the Chairman or Hon Secretary as soon as possible.

New Year Social and Quiz Night - Friday 26th January 2007
Following our tremendously successful all-new Summer Social and Quiz Night in July last year, we held a New Year Social and Quiz Night on Friday 26th January 2007. The event raised a total of £337.50 in aid of the evening's nominated charity, which was the Epsom and Ewell Butterfly Appeal. A cheque for this amount was presented to Mrs Nancy Richmond, the Founder and Chairman of the Butterfly Appeal, at the Association's Annual General Meeting on Friday 30th March 2007, at which Mrs Richmond was the Guest Speaker.
The New Year Social and Quiz Night again comprised of three separate quiz games with prizes for members of the overall winning team. The event also featured a Charity Raffle in which the first prize was a magnificent state-of-the-art portable 12volt electric Cool Box, very generously donated by Bradbury's of Stoneleigh Broadway.
